Welcome to the board kf9vh!! Glad to have you here. I have an interest in revolvers, I just can't get my mind set on what I want to get. I was pretty well set on a S&W686, but then I got to looking at more blued revolvers. I like the look of the blue more than stainless, so I'm on the lookout for a blue .357 6" bbl. Currently, I want a 6rd cylinder. This pretty much eliminates the new revolvers on the market, except for Ruger. I've not even seen a blued ruger revolver around here for a year or so. I called my dealer and he said he could get one, but it would cost ~$50more than stainless due to some red tape and lack of cooperation from his distributor. I'm not sure, but I don't think S&W makes a blue 6" .357, and I've only seen 7rd cylinders for taurus. So, I'm continually on the lookout for a S&W 27, or 28, a 586 is on the watch list as well. Maybe I should broaden my search and permit 7round cylinders, and only load six . modified to add: I'm looking for a DA or DA/SA revolver

I've always thought that revolvers are inherently safer. No worry about a round left in the chamber. And revolvers are also more reliable. I trust that I could put one of my S&W's in my underwear drawer and leave it untouched for 20 years and then if needed, it would still go bang when I pull the trigger. I have several semi-auto's and I don't have the confidence that they would perform nearly as reliably if not maintained meticulously.
