I was buying ammo yesterday for the Schofield at CheaperthanDirt and I remembered that I needed a .30 caliber jag for the CZ-52. While looking for it, I ran across something I hadn't noticed before: "Break-Free Carbon Cutter". They state that it removes Black Powder fouling. So, I'm wondering if it would work on the fouling inside the cylinders of my stainless revolvers.
Has anyone tried it? ( I hate being the first person to use something. Pioneers get a lot of arrows in their backs.)
Currently using Butch's and .40 S&W brushes gets most off it, and then I get the rest with the lead remover cloth patches, but it is time consuming. I'm always looking for an easier way.

TMan; I'll look for it at the range, and hope they have it, then I'll try it on one of my stainless revolvers. I still have trouble with the carbon fouling around the forcing cone and frame area on my stainless 617 rimfire. This revolver has had the surface glass beaded, so it's important not to attempt a method which might put polishing or abrasion marks on the surface. The lead cloth don't seem to work very good, so I'm open for anything that might dissolve the carbon. I only have trouble with this one rimfire revolver, my centerfire magnums clean up alright.

Well mine clean up okay, but I would like an easier way of doing it. The Schofield cleans up pretty good, but it the CZ-52, and the Buckmark Target are my current shooting guns. (I can't seem to get the sights right on the Buckmark, and it isn't just me - two other people shot it today, and it was definitely off.)
I just finished cleaning the 629 two days ago, so I don't have anything to currently test it on.
I enjoy shooting revolvers much more than I do the semi-auto's. I just hate cleaning them. I shot the Schofield (with its crappy trigger) much better today than I've shot any of the double-action revolvers, and those were in single-action mode.

TMan; I was picking up some cleaning stuff at the range and noticed the Break Free Carbon cutter. Like you I do not have anything to test it on until I shoot one of my Stainless Revolvers again; I already cleaned my 617. It claims to work on cleaning carbon. I know it cost alot for that small bottle, $6.97. It might be awhile before I decide on which stainless revolver I want to shoot next; I think I only have about three. I'm out of the automotive carburetor cleaner too.
