Believe it or not, they have a prarie dog display at the Buffalo Zoo. Unless your neighbors have pet gerbils or Gunnea Pigs, it's not likely you'd hurt them.
I finally got out by myself to sight in the Marlin. Things go much quicker when you have the place to yourself. After the mess I made of it with my little nephew around, I re-adjusted it by looking through the bore, found a tight grouping at 25 yds, and then brought it to center at 50 yds.
I ran into a problem unfortunately, so my 100yd adjustments to the Chuck Hawks method will have to wait. I was using Winchester ammunition and I must confess that I don't normally check the ammo very well. Upon attempting to chamber a round, the bolt wouldn't close. The bullet was set way to far back, cracking the case down past the tail of the bullet. Of courst teh cracked case wouldn't chamber. I'll post pics when I get the chance. Setting that round aside, I was unable to remove a later one from the breech. That ended my shooting for the day (well, aside from a box of .380 with the PPK/s).
I'll have to remove the case with a cleaning rod I imagine. I didn't have the time to mess with it last night. It will be interesting to see if that case is cracked too.
I think I'll send an email to Winchester to see what they have to say for themselves. Not thinking, I neglected to retrieve the box from the trash. I'll have to stop by today to see if it's still there.
