What serious real world dangers are we facing in regards to keeping our weapons concealed? I spend so much time (as I am sure you all do as well) ensuring that while packing I do so without the chance of letting on that I have my weapon.
But really … if someone does spot a print on your pants or shirt, what is the big deal? I know in PA I’m allowed to have the gun. Am I right to assume that what we are trying to avoid is a “commotion” as well as avoiding would be attackers knowing that we indeed have the weapon?
It seems to me, that concealing is little more than this … but I could be missing something.

I'de pretty agree with ya' TBT. My biggest fear is no longer legal reprecussions. A good friend of mine has been stopped by the police twice in the last month. Both times he was heavily armed, on his person and his vehicle. Yes the police ran serial numbers on his guns, etc. but he was completly legit. and the police sent him on his way with a handshake b/c he has his CWP.
The aspect I fear is the big hubub some one might try to make if they see my gun. There are plenty of anti-gun radicals out there who would not hesitate to call 911 if they catch a glimpse of a handgun. It could make for an unpleasant afternoon.

I'm sure it varies from state to state, but New York requires concealed carry for handguns. "Printing" or innocently exposing your handgun to public view is considered brandishing.
From what I understand, as long as everything is in order, it's not a big deal. But the scene and the resulting hassle are enough for me to keep it under wraps.

As far as I know, in Pennsylvania it is perfectly legal to walk around with a handgun completely exposed with or without a permit. But … everyone knows that this would only create a chaotic and annoying situation regarding the uneducated masses of people that would flock to the scene. I understand the whole thing … I’m just a little put off that while obeying and operating well within the grasp of the law, a citizen such as anyone of us would have to endure the questions and commotion of a scene if the unlikely did indeed happen and our weapons were made known to the public. I mean, talk about discrimination against a group of people. A group of law-abiding people.
