I have owned a large variety of handguns for both self-defense as well as for competitive shooting including the XD in 9 and .40., several glocks (17, 22, and 23), 2 different SW semi-autos whose model #s I can't remember, a couple .38s, the SW99 in .40 (loved it), more glocks, and HK USP in .40 and at least 2 different 1911s.
Right now in my safe I have 3 pistols: The Springfield 1911 in .45 which is my competition gun. I have never found a gun I can group better with and at this point doubt I will.
The Glock 27 which is my carry gun. I carry often and what I like about it is the size. It still is a glock however so I have made my peace that a 4" group is the best I will ever do with it. As far as carry goes, I dont plan to shoot anyone more than 7 yards away from me and for that purpose I know it will always go bang when I need it.
Lastly, I have a Smith and Wesson model 39 (9mm) which was a gift from my father that he got at a police auction. It is fun for the range, but out of respect for my dad who loved it, it will remain a safe queen probably forever. (Not a pretty queen, but she rules with an iron fist!)
I also have a large collection of shotguns (benelli and rugers to drop some names) cause I have gotten into sporting clays the last couple years) but this is a handgun site so no need to list all those.
For me, they will never be as fun to shoot as pistols.
So there you go - probably more info than you wanted, but I am happy to be posting again!

An impressive line up of fine guns. So I hesitate to put up my list. It's not a large list, but they are all used regularly. Baikal IZH-46M .177cal best airpistol I have ever owned. Between 8 and 9 thousand pellets shot at targets and still going strong. Ruger MK 2 Government model, ported bull barrel. I do all my own trigger work. Ruger GP100 .357 carry weapon. S&W Mod 686 .357 Combat Target pistol. Smooth as butter right out of the box. Colt Gold Cup Series 80 .45 Cal Target Pistol. S&W 22A purchased recently. In process of turning this plinker into a good target pistol. It's a work in progress.

My current handguns consist of a S&M M41, A-S&W-M46, a Norinco 45-ACP-TT-sport model, and a Berretta 92FS. I actually have a Daisy BB pistol for trigger practise as well. My long guns consist of a Russian SKS-7.62x39, a Marlin 30-30 which is For sale, a Brasilia 410 single shot shotgun, A Anschutz 22cal bolt action model 125, a Marocchi semi auto 22 rifle and a Black powder Flintlock made by a well known BP man up here Murdy Twitchel. Was one of our most famous BP shooters for many years and a real pro at making these guns. There's another gunshow this Sunday near here so I may add something else as well. If the wife dosen't catch me that is.

Hmmmm, "S&M" vs "S&W". Something going on in your sub-conscious that we don't need to know about there Bluegrass. ;D ;D ;D

The way my 41 has been shooting lately it does have some S&M in it I think. My 46 is much more accurate. Good catch for sure as I was cursing it just last night at the range. Found I actually have a defective Compensator on it and have ordered a false nose piece for it from a gentleman out west. Keeps throwing everything left of centre no matter what we do unless I take it off. Had to also unseize the rear sights as well. Its a 1958 year issue so its been around a wee bit. Its getting old and tired like me too.

I always have to smile when we have someone new to come and dig up these old threads. This one hasn't been updated in 6 years or so. Hard to believe that we've been here all these years...
Welcome to the group Eleyman. Glad to have you here stirring up the pot.

I at this time have a S&W M41, a M46 and a sports model Norinco two tone silver and black 45APC with target sights on it. Recently sold my Berreta 92FS plus a Daist BB pistol for trigger practise. Rifles include a Anschutz 92 series sporster for Target practise. Has a older Bushnell Legend scope on it. a 20gauge single shot shotgun,A Thompson Centrefire 45Cal black powder rifle. The Sennaca model and a custom built Flintlock as well. in 40Cal. Black powder also. I have owned over 50 different handguns over the years and probably 200 rifles. I buy and sell them all the time it seems and make some extra ammo money this way.

Wow, that was about 13 years ago. We've been hanging around here that long?! Well, the Browning HP and Walther ppk/s managed to find me. The Colt Python is still out there somewhere. Might have been held off by the S&W Model 27 that snuck in ahead of it. A Walther P5 compact is peeking out from my profile picture, and most recently a Ruger 1911 took up residence in the safe too. (OK, it wasn't all that recent, but I did pick up a Mossberg 500 for my son within the last year.) Small, but growing... Walther P99 Titanium .40 Ruger Mark II Competition Target A bit beyond the 'handgun profile' thread, but in keeping with the precedent: JC Higgins Model 48 bolt action .22 (this one's a family hand-me-down of sorts) Marlin Model 883 bolt action .22WMR and the ubiquitous Remington 870 Express. Now, in the 'comming soon' category: Browning Hi-Power 9mm Walther PPK .380 Colt Python .357

My collection sure has grown in that time as well. I've also learned to keep more ammo on hand so that I don't have to ration my shooting habits with my favorite guns.
