Anyone seen this flick? It's new on rental and pretty interesting if you have an interest in firearms.
Basically, the writer says it's an updated version of one of the "Rio" Westerns. I did not find the plot very believable, but the firearms made up for it.
If you rent it on DVD, be sure to watch "Armed and Dangerous" in the Special Features area. The movie's gun guy talks about what was used.
Tactical guys in the flick had H&K 9mm assault carbines "with a cool factor of 10" as he pointed out, all tricked out with everything.
They also used a new model Colt in .223, AND the hero gets to use something called a SiG 552, also in .223.
Each major actor got his own handgun. There is one really nice 9mm SiG, 2 Para Ordnances, Berettas, an old Thompson submachine gun, etc.
For the shootouts, the actors used full-load blanks and the stunt guys playing the tactical team used, I think they said, "electric guns" at a range of about 10 feet. Stunt guys had to have armor, goggles, shields, all kinds of protection due to the close ranget but it was pretty interesting.

I have to see that movie.
Sounds like some pretty cool special features for gun guys, which rocks.

Callahan; Thanks for the tip. I thought you were referring to the older version of this movie until I looked up the current list on Hollywood Video's website. After seeing this one listed, I rented it and enjoyed it alot. I liked the bonus section where the Armorer goes through a discription of the weapons used in the movie. One of the first I recognized in the movie was the SIG 552, other than the Beretta and 1911.

LOL! I went to imdb.com and looked up the earlier version -- a John Carpenter film that was reviewed very positively.
Guy that are into Berettas, Paras and assault carbines will really like that. Have to say it's the first time I even knew there was such a thing as a SiG 552!
What did Laurence Fishburne carry? Looked like a stainless SiG...

Have to say it's the first time I even knew there was such a thing as a SiG 552 Callahan; The other night I got carried away with some internet research about the Swiss. You can find some information about the SIG 552 on this link. The 552 is the Commando version of the 550. I think Fishburne has the two tone 226. www.xasa.biz/wiki/en/wikipedia/s/si/sig_550.html

Although the SIG 552 is restricted to Law Enforcement Only in this country; Airsoft of Atlanta offers their version for only $79.95.
