Wait a minute - I'm confused. The "Colt" is obviously not a Colt, but is it a Walther or is it a Umarex? If it is a Umarex, what the heck does Walther have to do with it? Why is it called a Colt? There are tons of people out there that make AR-15's, but don't call them "Colts".
Wonder if it is too much Scotch - my brain isn't working. I don't understand this.
Why the heck would I buy one of these?

Well, as with most manufactured gadgets these days, who's making it is a bit complicated.
I suppose it is whatever you want to call it. Umarex owns Walther. While Umarex makes some of the Walther branded handguns (P22), Walther is building this one and marketing it as a Colt, just like S&W is making the PPK and marketing it as a Walther. Confused yet? Perhaps the Colt name will give it a bit more "legitimacy" than the myriad other clones.
As to why you'd want one? It's too rich for me at $500 for what's really just a .22 semiauto rifle. On the other hand, if I was an AR platform enthusiast, I'd probably love to practice with .22 as opposed to .223 for the cost alone.

MLB, thanks for clearing that up. I had no idea that Umarex owned Walther. I looked at Becky's web-site, and she has them listed under Umarex rather than under Walther or Colt. They are expensive: the cheapest one is $490. Not in my safe!!!

no thanks, if I want to plink with my AR, I'll buy a conversion kit for a lot less. If I need more of a ragged hole at longer ranges, I'll buy a .22 upper and use my lower. Still for less than what that is selling for. Or, I'll just shoot some of the .22's I already have.

To further confuse the issue, though it's made by Walther, it's being imported by Umarex (as you noted). Maybe they should have had Ruger make the receiver just to muddy the water a bit more ;-)

Yes, but then who would have paid for the recalls? ;D
