The Brady campaign compares our so called Gun Murder rates with countries like 5 people in New Zealand, 37 in Sweden, 56 in Australia, 73 in England and Wales, 184 in Canada and 11, 344 in The United States. Mind you, the Brady Campaign is a Gun Control Lobbyist group, so these numbers in the U.S. might be questioned.

They fail to mention the diversity of our population and the Black on Black criminal murder rates in the United States. They also fail to mention :

South Africa

In 1996, handguns were used to murder only 2 people in New Zealand, 15 in Japan, 30 in Great Britain, 106 in Canada, 213 in Germany and a staggering 9,390 in the United States.

Highly publicized lawsuits in Chicago, Atlanta, Cleveland, Miami, and several other cities have drawn attention to the potential liability of gun manufacturers in rising handgun violence. Last year, Chicago filed a suit against 23 gun manufacturers, and numerous dealers and distributors, for $433 million ($US) in damages caused by gun crime. The great majority of the shooting that are fatal here in Canada are in Toronto and its almost all gang related. Unfortunately it seems to be people of colour who are involved as well. Toronto has a lot of public housing which is subsidaized and they even kill each other at public barbeques no less and don't care if they kill X no. of bystanders as well. Up here this is not big news sadly to say as it happens way too dam often. Many decent young people have paid with their lives just because they were there. Sad like anywhere else of course.
