Seems like everyone wants to produce a 1911 these days, and why not - if you make a better mouse trap for a better price, people will buy it. Magnum Research's entry is made in Israel by Bul LTD, a company that I never heard of, but then again, I've never been to Israel. According to the specs, it has a crisp trigger. The one I measured was actually 4lb 2oz on average. Since the gun was new, I imagine it will only get better with age. (Nice to know somethings get better with age). The front sight is in a dovetail, so it can be removed and replaced easily. What I thought was a little weird was that the grip safety isn't blued, but stainless. It is in the picture too, so it isn't just this particular gun. It had serrations on the front of the slide, which does not show up in the picture. It also has a full length guide-rod. The front-strap is smooth, but having had some brands cut into my fingers, I don't consider that to be a negative, but some people might differ with me on that. I only got to shoot 25 rounds through it, but it grouped very well. Although they list it for $800, the street price was ~$650. About the only thing that I didn't care for was the big "DESERT EAGLE 1911 G" on the left side of the slide. Were I thinking about getting a Taurus or the DE 1911 G, I wouldn't hesitate. I'd go for the DE.

Ed shot the DE 1911 today. He raved about it in the car all the way home. I knew he was impressed when he got out his iPhone and took a picture of the gun and of his target. He only shot 10 rounds with one flyer. He had basically 3 groups within the center of the target with 3 shots through the same hole in each group i.e. there were basically 3 ragged holes in the center of the target. He then hurt my feelings by telling me that he shot the DE better than my high dollar 1911's. Lucky for him that I was out of bullets.
