Well, this looks interesting. Essentially it is a derringer, but a heck of a lot lighter. The insides are quite different than what we are used to seeing: A "video": 45ACP out of a 14oz gun will definitely let you know that it went off. Although it is available in non-ported, I think I would go with the ported version.

I could have sworn that we had a thread on this little bugger. It would be a barker for sure though. Seems to me that the porting starts almost before the bullet ends.

Funny, but I could have sworn that we did too, but when I did a "Search" neither "Heizer" nor "Doubletap" gave me a hit. I have the titanium ported in 45ACP on backorder from sportingarms.com. HFRDT045012 HEIZER DT 2RD TTNM MGRY PORT 45ACP Pistol $690.00 I still am a believer that a .45 hole is better than a .355 hole. I don't know about the stopping power of 357 magnum compared to 45 ACP, but I do know that the Doubletap would fit better in some of my tighter pants (note to self: fork repetitions are not helping you lose weight) than the S&W 360. Modified to add: They are also on facebook: www.facebook.com/HeizerFirearms

Wonder why I didn't find it when I did the search. Strange. .....TMan; There are three different Search Options on the Forum; I used "Any Word" and found it with "Heizer". I started off by entering "Heizer Firearms Doubletap" ; By using the first Search Option : Complete Phrase, to match, you wouldn't find it listed. ......TMan; I had a feeling that you would ask about this ;D

.....Offered in a non-ported version too !!! Yes, in case shooting a 45ACP in a 14oz ported pistol isn't exciting enough. I'm not sure about the "Patent Pending Progressive Porting". I mean, isn't all porting with multiple holes progressive? I guess you could also call it "sequential". Perhaps the holes have a different diameter as you progress down the barrel. I think from a technology standpoint that this is one of the most interesting things since the Rhino.

I like the little gadget, but don't think I'd have it ported. There's not much barrel there to begin with. No sense robbing the little that you do have.
With only 2 shots (aside from the clever speed loader clip in the grip), follow up shots aren't a big concern. Actually, the porting on the lower (second I'm assuming) isn't very useful at all I'd think.

....It don't much matter after Two Rounds has been spent,,,,What does matter, is the aftermath of these Two Rounds.
....This Derringer is designed entirely for defensive purposes and not much else.....The question might be, Will Two Rounds be good enough, by today's standards of multiple assailants ?
.......I quit carrying my S&W 640 Revolver, with it's 5 round cylinder, for a reason.
....This Derringer might be good for a backup or deep concealment piece.

You have got to be kidding me. I thought the S&W 360 in 357 Magnum was the worst thing I'd ever shot. I got the AL version which is 2oz lighter. One shot was enough. My hand really hurt and was red.

Perhaps the ultimate "carried lots and shot little" gun.

Not sure about carry. My wife is home on a business trip and we went to two church services (different churches) followed by TJ Max and Dillards. She insisted that I wear dress pants and my belt not as tight as usual because it caused the pants to wrinkle. I kept having to pull up my pants. The 4 rounds of 45ACP add a lot to the weight of the pistol.
The good news: it did not print at all. The bad news: I wonder in a crisis situation if I would pull the trigger since my sub-conscious would know that it would really hurt my hand. This is in no way a pistol for wimps. S&W 500, 460XVR, 454 Cassull, wimpy unless you put them in a pistol this size. I never believed a 45ACP could inflect so much discomfort.
