I am very fond of the drop in barrels on these Sigs; The first time I saw one, I could not believe the tolerances of fit . I have bought into the .40S&W/ 357sig combos for my 239, 229s, 226, and one of my 229 Sport Pistols. The Sport Pistols require hand fitting at the Sigarms custom shop, although the production pistols seem to be fitted perfect with little room for improvement. This is the 226 that I bought a few months ago, while cutting a deal on a factory 357 barrel to go with the .40. I took this picture with a flourescent light in the background to show the fit between the barrel hood and breech face; absolutely perfect fit. I wish I could get such tolerances from drop ins for my 1911s.

Hey DA, I just got a .40 P-239 and it's great. I'm interested in adding a .357 Sig barrel and mag, but the cost is a bit stiff. Are there any cheaper sources other than Sig for barrels, or other worthwhile makers (I'm thinking like Bar-Sto or Jarvis etc.)?

Krusty; Keep a focus on obtaining a Factory Sig Barrel. I seldom give over a hundred dollars for one on the pre-owned markets. Many people sell their .40 S&W Sig pistols and 357 sig conversion barrels separately when up grading, financial set backs, or for whatever reason. You can check on ebay, gunbrokers, shotgun news, dealers, gun shows, almost any source to find the barrels. The last new Sig barrel I bought was for a 229, the price was $160., from a dealer. The 357 sig barrel you see in the image is for a 226, I bought it from a guy who had sold his pistol before using the barrel.
