A few month's ago I traded a Ruger GP100 6" Blued .357 Mag. DA Revolver with a 2x scope for an AR15. Now I'm wanting to get another .357Mag. with a 6" barrel and adjustable sights. I was at my dealer and he had a Ruger GP100 but with a 6" heavy barrel without the full lug, and I really liked the way it looked. I have a Rossi Model 877 .357Mag. Stainless Steel, with a 2" barrel in 99% condition in the box with owners manual. It's only had 20 rounds through it. He wants my gun and $85 with no tax. The GP100 is in about 98% condition. What do you guys think.

Absolutely; Get the Ruger, it's an American Manufactured revolver, hard to beat it's strength. If you want to know more, call a pistolsmith and inquire about honing the actions on either guns. You might not get an offer like this one on the Rossi again, and you'll gain a good Ruger. If the Ruger is Stainless, scratches buff out easy.

DA, I was leaning that way, I guess I was just looking for a second opinion. It has a blued finish with no noticeable wear, except for light cylinder marks. My other GP100 had the full lug heavy barrel, and the GP100 my dealer has doesn't have the full lug, and I actually like the looks of it better. If I had cash, I could probably get the GP100 for about $290 out the door. How does that price compare to where you live? Thanks.

That is a good price, even if it was from an individual. I brag because I bought a 4" S&W 686 a few years ago for $300. The Ruger Blued Steel has it's own beauty and smoothness; For me, the carbon blued Rugers shoot more solid and firm in the grip, than the stainless, but that's me. I really hope you do come out good on this Mountaineer.

Thanks DA I may try to trade with my dealer in the next couple of days. I put my Rossi in an AD Bulletin which will come out Tuesday, and maybe I can sell it out right and buy the GP100 in cash. I'll keep you guys informed, but it may be a week or so as I have to have surgery Thursday.
