Nastybutler; That is a square butt with steel hammer & trigger, one of the M&P revolvers on the K-Frame. It might have the counter bored cylinder as well; For that price, in excellent condition, I think it would be a great deal.

Yes it is a double action revolver. I have a 3" model 65 that I found at a gun show about 10 years ago for $245. Same pistol but 3" barrel with round butt. It is my nightstand gun but has proven to be surprisingly accurate. The 65's have a fairly heavy barrel which I liked and seems like I heard the FBI used to carry these before they went to autos. I agree with DoubleAction, sounds like a good deal and it would make a great "truck gun".

I don't think I have ever met a K frame revolver I haven't liked. I currently have a M10, 12, 13, 15, 19, and 66. That should speak volumes to my faith in them. Regards, Richard:D

as i mentioned earlier, i am fairly new to wheel guns. would I need to have the hammer rest on an empty chamber for this revolver? or is it new enough to be able to keep fully loaded?

Welcome to the forum Richard. Take a look at the home page, and the member pictures section, you might feel the urge to show us some of that iron...

Nastybutler, I always leave six rounds in mine but before I posted that here for everyone to see my ignorance I figured I better look at my pistol. There does seem to be a transfer bar that blocks the hammer from going forward until the trigger is pulled. I believe most double action revolvers are safe to load all chambers, only old Ruger, Colt, and Colt copy single actions you should leave the one under the hammer empty.
