Well I have found my new safe queen. I will be making a purchase of a new smith&wesson .500 in the next few months. I just saw that they make this bad boy in a 4inch barrel( well 3inch with two 1 inch compensators for lead and jhp ammo). I think Ill start off with 275 gr bullets and work my way up.

I'm still waiting for Clint Eastwood to come out with a movie on this hand cannon ;D. My brother shot one at the range, and he said the recoil was not much different from a 44 magnum. Maybe so, but with that compensator, I expect that gun to be like a fire breathing dragon on steroids. I like the four inch magnums for all purpose work, but on this one, I think I would go with the longer barrel to balance out the possible use of a scope for long distance shooting. The 4" barrel is more of a Combat Duty length, this cannon is a Hunting grade revolver. Next time someone pulls out a Raging Bull, you can................ ;D.
