I have a neighbor that has a like new in box Rossi model 720 .44 special he wants to sell. It is a stainless steel, 3" barreled, 5 shot cylinder, adjustable sighted, double action revolver. He even says he'll throw in a couple of holsters and let me shoot it before we close the deal. I figure for $200 I can't go wrong but I've never owned a Rossi before, oh well, if I don't like it I bet it would make great trading material.
Anybody out there have any experience with Rossi firearms, good or bad?

I have heard both good and bad about Rossi. My dad has one of the best lever action carbines I ever shot from Rossi.
Basically, if you get a good one, it's great. If you get a bad one, it ain't.
Shoot first and then decide.

Oregunner; For $200., it might make for a good all round defensive gun when you do not want to carry something more expensive. Being stainless, you won't have to be concerned about scratches or rust, as much as a blued gun. With the holsters thrown in; I would take him up on his offer for some range time with the gun, shoot about two hundred rounds, and make your decision based on your own opinion and findings. Check each spent case for primer strikes. This Model your looking at is designed much like the S&W revolvers, with the full underlugged barrel and hammer mounted firing pin. The unfluted cylinder is something unique, and the longer extractor rod should clear the spent cases with no problem. The accuracy might not be as good as some of the other Rossi revolvers, but it is good enough for close up defensive work.

Since Rossi is made by Taurus now it might still fall under there lifetime warrenty. I know the new ones do.

Oregunner, I've owned 3 Rossi revolvers, and I just sold a Rossi Model 877 stainless .357 Mag. as new in the box for $215. It was a fine revolver, but it only had a 2" barrel, and I wanted a 6" barrel with adjustable sights. Rossi revolvers are a lot better guns than people think. Try it out, and if it works ok for that price, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

I bought a Rossi .357 for my daughter. It seems well made for the money. The gunsmith where I do my trade says that the Rossi is better and more reliable than the Taurus (even though...)
