Of those listed, and ones that are not; Which one single firearm manufacturer has contributed the most in the development of Handguns, in your own opinion.

I would have to say that my favorite handgun maker was/is the old Soviet government!!
N.F. Makarov designed one mighty fine pistol!!!

I have very little experience with different manufactures but till last weekend I only shot Glocks. After shooting a Sig 226 in the 40 caliber I am in love and will be only be carrying Sigs from now on out. I have already got my 226 and the 229 is going to find a new home this weekend

Lukie; Welcome to the forum. I understand why you like the Sigs, I own eight myself. I just acquired a 226 in .40 back in febuary of this year, and also acquired the drop in 357 sig barrel from another source at a good deal. I smoothed up the action a little and ended up with a 3.75 lb. single action trigger stroke. You'll like the 229 alot, especially if you decide on acquiring the 357 sig barrel for it, later on.

CZ isn't mentioned on the list and they are, by far my favorite manufacturer. I'll get to try out the CZ 92 in .45ACP as soon as my dad finishes paying for it.
I own two CZs both in 9mm. A P-01 and a 75 BD. My dad (who hated automatics until I got him stuck on CZs) owns 8 I think. 3 52s, 3 75s, a 75 Champion, 1 85, and the 92 on the way.
BTW: He qualified with a Mak and embarressed the hell out of some guys with Smiths and Colts. I'll be using my 75 and my wife will qualify with my P-01... maybe I'll even get it back when she qualifies... sigh.

klmhq; I appologize for not having anymore than I have of the list of choices, but I had only a certain number that I could list. That is one reason I left one for other. Some of these manufacturers are historically significant in the development of firearms, as well as Handguns. Some were also very instrumental throughout the 19th and 20th century, in providing arms to U.S. troops and Law Enforcement, as well those guns manufactured of foreign orgins. There is no doubt that the CZ pistols has made a tremendous impact among professionals and citizens alike. Nothing amateurist about the CZ; It is in all due respect, one of the finest pistols manufactured.

I am new to the forum and have found all areas useful to me. I have a loyalty to S&W. I own a 586-6", a 2214, and I just purchased a Sigma 9MM on Tuesday. I haven't fired it yet, but I plan to on Sat. I was a little scared by some of the posts I have read about the Sigma's, but I was very impressed with the fit and feel of this pistol. I'll let you know how I like it on Monday !!

I went to the range on Sat. My wife and I shot about 300 rounds through my new "toy". All rounds went off without a hitch. I am assuming that all of the Sigma woes I read about were from earlier models. I found the accuracy decent for a combat weapon at 25 yards. My wife, who hasn't fired a weapon in about 3 years really put me to shame. ;D Overall, I am very pleased with my choice for my CCW firearm. In case I forgot to mention it, I bought the 9mm version.
