It seems that Taurus has a series of these pistols, and it appears that they are very serious with making their mark in this likeness of similar pistols. Looking over some of the special features, like the flat wound recoil spring, bushingless barrel, and smooth functioning consistant D.A.O. trigger, I would think that Taurus has picked up on alot of proven innovative component ideas and applied them to an ergonomical designed pistol. This pistol desearves a closer "Hands On" look, and the test of shooting. There is a big market for pistols designed on this platform, and the competition is growing fierce among the manufacturers. Kimber first came in the 1911 market by offering their guns for much less than others, with factory packages that exceeded those guns costing almost twice the price. Taurus may well be following the success of their own company, as well as other manufacturers, by offering what consumers look for first, and that is price. Taurus has been honing their research & development for a few years now, and this pistol could be part of the sharp edge they will use to cut into a market dominated by Glock, and shared by S&W, Walther, Springfield, and several others. www.taurususa.com/main/index.cfm
