Any one use Promag magazines? I am wondering if any one has used them and if they have what they thought I have read lots of bad things about some aftermarket mags. Any help would be great

I've used some in my Ruger P89 and a Bersa .380 without any problem.

Lukie; Are you asking if this magazine will work well in your Sig, or another pistol that you own?

Lukie; I've been that road with the Sigs. I know because the factory magazines are so much more costly, it has us looking to aftermarket suppliers. I tried this with the Sig 220 in .45 acp, by purchasing about twenty Mec-Gar magazines. The stainless held in place with the mag catch, but the blued mags released after shooting began. I also noticed the sloppy fit of the aftermarket mag, verses that of the factory mag of Sig Sauer. For the 226, in .40S&W /357sig, it seems that Mec-Gar is manufacturing the magazines for Sigarms. You should notice a stamped " Made in Italy" on yours. Do not fret, I have the same factory magazines in my 226. When you get your 229, you will notice a very big difference in the quality of the German Sig Sauer magazines, verses the Mec-Gar. To bring this to an end; The Sigs are fitted to very close tolerances, and designed as flawless pistols. One way to defeat it's design and purpose is to substitute those parts which provides function to the pistol. The magazine is one of those that the Sigs are sometimes funny about being compatible with. If I were to look for a less expensive option, I would look to where Sigarms awarded the contract with the 226, and that would be Mec-Gar. You can try one Pro Mag, it might work, but others thereafter might not. Whatever reason, I would never rely on one in using for self defense.

I have a set of Promags for my P99. They don't look as good in the gun as the OEM Mec-Gars, but the floorplates don't break either The only functional problem I've had with them is that they often don't lock the slide back on an empty mag.

I just got a ProMag for my XD-40. I haven't tried it out at the range yet, but I was a little disappointed in the look and feel as I loaded it up and then popped all the cartridges back out a couple of times. I'll have to see how it shoots pretty soon.
