I carry a PPK/s most of the time. I notice a lot of people say the 380 isn t enough.and they would never carry any thing less than a 9 or a 357, ect. Then I see were these same people rave about how good their Kel Tec is and what a great gun for when you can t carry. Well folks Ill admit the 380 not a real power house and out of the shorter KT your giving up even more. Make up your mind one way or the other. By the way I haven t noticed this double standerd here.

Speaking on ly for myself, I wouldn't want to carry a .380 because I can't hit anything with them. The only .380 I've ever seen that had any accuracy at all is a CZ 83 and it's a pretty big gun, not like a Colt Mustang or even a PPK.
Those Mustangs and Kel-Tecs are SMALL. Which is good for carry. Me, I'll use my wife's 38 special.

I carry a .380 for the majority of the year. In the winter I have a .40 that I can conceal, but it's on my mind too much without a cover garment like a jacket.
I am confident that the .380 will allow me to escape a threat to my life. At 7-10 yards you almost can't miss. Anything much further than that strains the limits of defense...

I heard once that more people are killed by .22's than by any other caliber. Don't know if that is true or just some politician spouting off. Someone on this forum once said that even a .32 is better than a .45 if you actually carry it vs. leaving it at home because it is too big. So to scale: a .22 in your pocket is better than a .50AE home on your dresser.
There is another factor and that is of control. If the caliber is bigger than you are comfortable with, you better be accurate with your first shot because your second probably isn't going to hit the target. Plus those that put down the .380 sometimes forget that the diameter of the bullet is essentially the same as the 9mm. I don't own a .380 because I shoot a lot and the 9mm ammo is cheaper.

I really don't have a decent holster for mine. I had thought that the stuff for my Makarov would work, but, no go!!! I have a generic Yaqui belt slide that fits, sort of. But, at some time in the future I would like to get something specific!!

I've always been one who believed that any caliber was better than fists. That being said, I owned a PPK/S for a while. I let it go due to power to weight ratio considerations. My Para C6.45LDA carried 7 .45ACP in the same size package. It won out. I will say the PPK/S carried very well, but in my mind, in a fight for my life, I want every advantage I can get. I own and keep a KelTec P32 because it is significantly smaller than any other .32 or .380 except the KelTec P3AT. I can carry it when I can carry nothing else. I critiqued my PPK/S here. handgunforum.proboards3.com/index.cgi?board=RangeResultsOpinions&action=display&n=1&thread=1731
