In a small local gun shop I came across what was labeled a Smith & Wesson 44 with interchangeable barrels. It had 2 barrels, one that appeared to be 8" long and another that appeared to be 4" long. I am aware of Dan Wesson making a revolver with the interchangeable barrels, but can find nothing about a S&W with that option. Any one else ever heard of this?
It appears to be stainless, and it does look like a S&W though I did not handle it.

WSB; Jack Weigand custom made some S&W revolvers with the interchangable barrels. The barrels screwed in with a shroud surrounding the barrel. You might be able to find one on his site. www.jackweigand.com
