does anyone here have one of the new WWII or regular mil-spec 1911's from springfield? i have heard that the WW II mil-spec may have trouble digesting HP ammo. but does anyone have trouble with this? or know if the standard mil-spec is better suited to HP ammo? thanks in advance.

From what I've read, they gobble up anything you put in 'em. For more, read Xavierbreath's post under the "Handgun Critiques" thread...

I have seen no significant differences in them as far as ammo digestion. The WWII model's barrel is throated. The real difference is in the sights and the ejection port.
That being said, the fitting of the Mil-Spec seems to be a bit better, and I would probably buy it first, just to get the better sights and lowered port. FWIW though, my general beat around carry gun is a sistema 1911, which has the itty bitty sights and high port........go figure!
