I'm eyeing a shop's mint unfired Walther P-88 9mm w/several hicaps, but it's a hefty $1300. It's only the second one I've ever seen in 16 years. I know it's derived from their single stack P-38 and P-5 predecessors, but does anyone have any other opinions or feedback on the 88? Thanks.

Thanks, DA. Yeah, the $$ problem is because of Massachusetts' '98 "Gun Control" act, PLUS our Atty. Gen'l's prohibitive "consumer safety" regulations. A few years ago it didn't seem to matter whether any used guns were made before '98 or in MA before then, but now dealers have turned into legal paranoiacs. They won't sell any used handgun design that's not documentable as 'in-state' before '98, or on the AG's current 'approved' new gun list. The concept of 'grandfathering' pre-'98 anything has basically gone out the window. Hence, this rare older P-88 is able to be sold because it's provable it was already here. That's also why it's way overpriced. Several months ago, this same shop had a warehouse find, unfired, pre-'98 Norinco 1911 priced at $600. I KNOW that people across the US can easily find them for around $300 or so, but newly made ones can't be had here any more. It suck$ big time for MA gun buyers, for sure. Now you can also see why I'm so adamant that NO Mass. politician be elected as President, or anything else national EVER, lol.

Wow Krusty; That is a sad state of affairs; I've heard about the bureaucratic chaos in some of the northern states, but this is ridiculous. Some of these states are turning into their own fortresses. It is no wonder why 500 new residents are moving into our state each day; And I do not think it's only about the firearm issues. I feel your pain Krusty; And fear that this kind of climate will spred through the federal regulated grapevines for the rest of the country. The aftermath of the previous Hillary Clinton administration, under Bill, will effect the rights of the male population throughout this country for eternity.

Well put. Trying to get a law off the books once it's been enacted is like trying to pull Arthur's sword from the stone. We wouldn't put a fox in charge of the chicken coop, but we foolishly elect a preponderance of lawyers & entrust them, free of restraint, to make our laws. That's our first, biggest mistake in this democratic republic. Working taxpayers from the middle class to the monied and educated, in a widely mixed balance should compose how our lives are governed. Not pettifoggers whose very existence is to concoct regulations so strangled, invasive, & complicated that it requires a paid fellow attorney to even begin to interpret the gobbledygook.
