I was looking at the 2005 Smith & Wesson catalogue at the 629 models (yes, I still haven't decided). I notice that they have a Model 625 JM, which I had a chance to examine in person last week. From the picture, I thought I wouldn't care for the grips because they didn't have finger grooves. Was I ever wrong. The gun fit wonderfully in my hand.
In the catalogue they list it as: Jerry Miculek Professional Series, but if you look at the MSRP it is only $28 more than the regular 625. I'm sure the grips cost that much more, and since this isn't listed in the Performance Center section I'm wondering if the gun has had any work done on it other than the nice wood grips. Any ideas?

TMan; I have a couple the Miculek grips for the S&W N and L frames; they seem to not fill my grip as good as the regular Hogues. The Miculek grips are made by Hogue . The ones I have was actually purchased from Jerry Miculek at the '99 shot show; He was running the register at the Clark booth like any counter guy would. That day the Clark booth was full of celebrities but my brother and I seemed to be the only ones taken into the occasion. I don't know how much better the Miculek gun is to the Performance Center model in the 625, and I doubt if I ever will know because I can't keep enough of the 45 acp to satisfy the diet of my 1911s. I would not buy one until after I put a gage on the double action trigger stroke, which should pull through at no less than 7 1/2 lbs, with anything over 8 a no buy.
