All this talk of AWB sunsetting has got me to thinking 9mm again. And what better 9mm slingshot than a Browning Hi-Power?
Problem is, I don't know all that much about them. I'm leaning towards a used one, as the new ones I looked at seemed a bit rough in the trigger department.
Can anyone shed any light on trouble points I should be looking for? We had a link on buying a used revolver that was teriffic, and I thought I saw a similar one somewhere on the 1911. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I promise to post pictures of the results...

MLB, I bought a Browning Hi Power MK.III in 40s&w new in 1997, and it had a decent trigger. I'm not really a fan of 40s&w, so I sold it and bought a new Hi Power MK.III in 9mm, and it's trigger was not to good, about 10lbs. I love the Hi Power but I'm going to have to do something about the trigger, maybe remove the magazine safety. Other than the trigger, the Hi Powers are great IMHO.

I love my Hi-Power. I have owned three, two I still have. I bought one in .40 s&w after my son adopted my 9mm, and bought a second slide and bbl. in 9mm. The only problem I have with them is the sights are small, Novaks fixes that, and my first one had trigger problems.

I removed the magazine safety disconnect, and found that it only made 1/2 lb difference. According to my gauge, I'm now at a 6lb pull. I think I could have accomplished just about the same difference by application of some good lube to the magazine. I have the "standard" version, which is the polished black with the wooden grips, and it is in 9mm. It has a very simple mechanism, and the less there is, the less there is to go wrong. I haven't shot a whole lot of rounds through it, but it has never had a failure. Also, I use the Buffer Technologies shok-buffer. I wouldn't say that I'm in love with the HP, but it isn't for sale either. I've gotten a lot of complements on its looks. More than I have on my wife's looks. ;D Good thing she doesn't know how to shoot.

Thanks everyone for your help. I think I'll be looking for a quality used one. I found this site to be helpful too: www.hipowersandhandguns.com/
