The Pete Pages are an excellent source of information. I've always referred to those pistols like the Glock as being "Striker Fired". Double Action and Single Action triggers, featuring the Hammer, is referring to how the hammer is cocked. The striker fired pistols has no hammer. I'll leave the rest to the expert descriptions found on the Pete Pages.

Both systems are time proven for effectiveness; Many early designs from John Browning were striker fired.

Watson; Many members on the forum have purchased guns through the internet dealers; Unfortunately, I'm not one of them. My area has so many gun dealers, one can spend several days covering them all. You might want to start a new thread, inquiring about the dealers located on the internet, or check out our link pages.

I also have a little review of the XD on the Handgun Critiques page. I have both the XD-9 and XD-40 and think they are great. Here is a link you might try for online purchase. www.sportingarms.com/ They have XD's in three calibers listed for $419. But that's not counting shipping and FFL transfer fee.
