It's hard to beat the local Wal-Mart for ammo. Winchester White Box stuff is fine for range practice. I haven't found any internet supplier that's cheaper.

even when cabelas has 300 rounds for $40. I went pricing a box of like 50 at walmart today and they were like $10 or something like that! so I just thought bulk was the way to go..

I shoot mostly everything but 9mm, and save alot through georgia arms, especially with the loaded Gold Dot bullets. You can check them out, they have the "Canned Heat" bulk ammo and the "Shear Power Plus" defensive ammunition. www.georgia-arms.com

I agree with both MLB and DA. I buy 1 or 2 thousand rounds from Georgia Arms when they are in town for the gun show and fill in with Winchester White Box. White Box 9mm at Walmarts usually cost $10.96 which is a penny more per hundred that Georgia Arms.

as the others have said...for 9mm wwb from wally world not a bad way to go. I have not shot Georgia Arms, but I'd trust the others that say it is good. They have not steered me wrong yet. It is hard to beat 9mm at $0.10-0.11 per round. The catch with some of the online dealers is the shipping/handling charges. You may also try there are many online ammo dealers. www.ammoman.com free shipping www.cheaperthandirt.com huge selection, usually a little more expensive than the others already mentioned. can also order small quantities, if you want.

I followed Doubleaction's recommendation awhile ago and ordered Georgia Arms 45 ACP ammo, which worked fine in my Ruger 97DC, but not so well in my new Kimber Ultra Carry II. But the price was no real bargain over buying factory ammo at my local sporting goods store so I did not reorder.

Vito- You must do better at the sporting goods dealer than I do. I buy Georgia Arms .45 ammo at guns shows and save a few cents per 100 over Walmart. But the fact that I can buy 1000 at a time saves me several trips to Walmart. Even if the cost were the same that would make it worthwhile.

I guess I need to check out Georgia Arms again to look at prices. I was buying only 100 at a time.

For the .45 acp and .223, I usually buy the Canned Heat bulk, 500 rds. in a G.I. M-82 ammo can . I do not shoot the georgia arms ammo just because of price; I shoot it because it's some darn good ammunition. I shoot it in .40 S&W, 357sig, .45acp, .357 magnum, 38 Special, 38 Super, 44 Special, 44 Magnum, and .223 . I've shot their .45 acp in the 230 gr. FMJ, 230 gr. LRN, the 185 gr. JHP, and the 185 gr. JHP + P. Nothing quite beats the georgia arms 44 mag 240 gr. JHP at $16.50 for 50 rds, or the 185 gr. JHP .45 acp at $11.50 for 50 rds. Their Gold Dot "Sheer Power Plus" , "New"ammunition is very difficult to match. Vito; I think you were already having a few issues with the Kimber, without the georgia arms ammo; Right? I have to put in a good word for the people at georgia arms and how well I've been taken care of over the years. Anyone looking for 10mm, 460 Rowland, 45 Auto Rim, 41 Magnum, or any of those calibers I mentioned above; You will be hard pressed to find better ammunition at an equal price. I also enjoy getting the brass credit, which leaves my ammo tab alot less than if I were buying my stuff elsewhere. Right now I'm sitting on about $200 to $300 dollars worth of brass; .45 acp is .035, and 44 mag is .05. I've seen very little, or no, increase in their ammunition during the past twelve years. My guns will shoot about anything I put in their chambers, but they shoot better with loads more tuned toward smoothness and accuracy, without sacraficing velosity and energy.

Thanks for the advice. You're right, my problems probably had nothing to do with the Georgia Arms ammo. In my Ruger P97 this ammo worked perfectly. With a short, 3 inch barrel, am I likely to see any FTE issue more likely with 185 gr rather than 230 grain?

Vito; Your Kimber is only 1/2" shorter than my Colt Officer's ACP, and I've shot about everything through it, bone stock and modified. I suggest trying 50 rds of the 185 gr. JHP, which is rated at 1,000 FPS, since your Kimber is designed as a defensive pistol more than it is a target gun. I have a couple of short recoiling pistols that I test with the defensive ammunition on occaissions. My Sig 239 has a barrel length of 3.6", combined with a light aluminum alloy frame, and a single flat recoil spring, which I shoot .40 S&W and the high velosity, 1400 FPS, 357 sig through with no problems. These shorter recoilng pistols require a very solid and firm grip with a locked wrist, and support from the two hand hold. Allowing the slide to float on recoil will cause stove pipe jams and FTEs. I admit that 3" barrels on the 1911 .45 acp is pushing things a bit, but it seems to be working. I would not mind having one of these carry pistols for myself if I could stay away from others for awhile.

According to their webpage, georgia-arms is no longer accepting brass. 5ontarget; That has been on their website for a number of months. I'm hoping that they have just not bothered to update that information. If not; I'll just let my supply build up until they do. I've found others at the shows that give brass credit when georgia arms is not around; In such cases, I usually go for the Winchester white box, Federal American Eagle, or PMC for my semi-autos.
