Grip looks like that on a P38, slide looks like that on a PPK,but wrong caliber; And being none too wise on the vintage German pistols and their global clones, I have not a clue to who manufactured this pistol. Anyone have any information on this gun?

I saw something very similar a while back, I think it is a Polish pistol. Let me dig through some stuff.

Well I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for...but here is some info I found through a brief internet search. It is Polish, P-83 Wanad. You apparently have a pretty rare one for the USA. According to this hem.passagen.se/dadkri/P-83.htm web page, that version was not imported. The ones with the bobbed hammer and wider serrations were imported.

OK, I'll hazard a guess.
Aside from the grip which looks like what would happen if a Ruger got cozy with a P38, that bugger remids me of an H&K P4.
That one often came with interchangable barrels, which would address the caliber question, and as the P4 was one of the first for H&K, it could be a prototype. (OK, so it's a bit of a reach ;D )
If that swag doesn't fly, I'll go with a Mauser HSc which is what the P4 was modeled after.
