Someone once said: "I never met a man I didn't like". Well, I never met a Glock that I liked. Then a couple of weeks ago at the range, a friend let me shoot his. I was impressed with how well I had shot with it. Didn't at all seem like the previous Glocks that I had shot.
Then my favorite dealer made me an offer on a G34 that was NIB, previously owned, but never shot, for $449. The estrogen took over - I couldn't resist such a bargain.
I bought it, took it to the range, and was disappointed. I hated the trigger. At that point I thought that there must be some deep psychic thing where I like shooting other peoples guns rather than my own.
After talking to my friend last week, I found out that he had the connector changed to the 3.5" pull. Okay, a quick order and I had in my had a 3.5" connector.
To reassemble the CZ75 you need a couple of slave pins. The receiver is quite complicated. The Glock is a piece of cake. All I need was a punch (no hammer), and I took it apart, installed the connector, and put it back together. Wow, I was so impressed with the simplicity of it.
Then I dry-fired a couple of times and it felt like my friend's trigger. I wanted to put some good, high quality, grease on the sear, but couldn't find one. In fact after putting it back together, I had no idea how the thing actually worked. Oh, but it does work. My mentor had previously told me that I'd just have to get used to the trigger, but it isn't bad at all now.
All in all, I'm really impressed with the design of the Glock. Words that I never thought would come out of my mouth. Next thing I'll start liking "cowboy guns". ;D

So, that's the Glock secret . . . shooting one turns you into a woman! You are now in touch with your feminine side -- wonderful! Myself, I wait for a heapin' helpin' of testosterone to take over, that would be a manly man thing! Usually happens when ya pick up a SiG, pilgrim! Just kidding, I know you meant to say testosterone... ;D

Tman-
yeah and pretty soon, you'll get into revolvers...oops already treaveled that road. Cowboy action/shooting does seem like your next destination, or some competitive shooting of some kind.
What a conflict you must have had, all the testosterone from just being in a gun shop, and handling guns, then the estrogen rush from shopping and finding this great "sale." How'd you bring it all back to balance?

That is a great buy on a G34! I would get one for that price. I just about bought a G34 but got the Colt Gold Cup instead. I thought the G34 had a 3.5 pound trigger but the Glock website says they are 4.5. I had a 3.5 lb. connector put on my wife's G17 (which I use a lot) . Does the G34 have a target sight on it? If it has the normal Glock sight you will want to switch that out. A common change is to put a fiber optic on the front (a Glock armorer can do that for about $30.00) and turn the back sight around. Another solution for the back sight is to use black magic marker to get rid of the white. The G34 is a great gun for Production in USPSA or Stock Service Pistol in IDPA.

How'd you bring it all back to balance? That was easy - being in touch with my feminine side - I just wrote a check. Now the question is: since I'm now a convert, do I need to be baptised? If so, in what - Hoppes #9 ? ;D

Does the G34 have a target sight on it? If it has the normal Glock sight you will want to switch that out. I really don't know if these are standard Glock sights or not, but I like them. There is the white outline on the back, and a white dot up front. I don't plan on changing the sights at this point. LoneWolfDist.COM has some interesting things available that should improve the trigger and shooting of the G34. I was going to order some stuff, but when I got done, (including a 6 ported barrel), it came to nearly $400. Hmmm, I think I'm going to shoot it a few more times, then if I like it enough, I'll spend the money out of next years budget. This years budget is really screwed.

This years budget is really screwed. 1 - The G34 should have come with a 3.5# disconnector, not a 3.5# pull though LOL. 2 - I bought my G34 at a gas station at about 8 a.m. a year ago in Atlanta. $500 with 50 rds thorugh the bbl. 3 - Replace the guide rod religiously at 1,000 rds. I had mine run to 10,000 in one year, but I started having FT seats at a class which was embarrassing. 4 - The G34 likes 124 gr. ball 5 - Trijicon night sights are really good replacement 3 dot night sights. I did a a lot of single hand drills using my pockets, shoes, etc. to rechamber the gun with the sights and it was all good. 6 - If you want a really good comp holster for the G34 check out www.talontactical.com.

1 - The G34 should have come with a 3.5# disconnector, not a 3.5# pull though LOL. Well, that's what I thought too. However, the manual that came with it listed it at 5.5#, and there wasn't the little minus sign on the connector. Also, it has 3 pins, not the 2 that the G34 is supposed to have. It may have been an early model and been on the shelf for awhile. When I ordered the connector, I also ordered the "Fire Dragon Dual Action Buffer Spring System Shock Absorbing Buffer". It has a dual spring system. You can read about it at: www.topglock.com/catalog/recoil.htmAt the time I am writing these, it is on sale for $49.95. It is a nice unit. Especially when you compare it to what is supplied with the gun by Glock.

Tptplayer, I broke down and ordered the fiber optic front sight. I'm sticking with the factory rear sight because it is adjustable. They had some fiber-optic that were "fully adjustable for windage". I'm not sure how a sight that could be adjusted for windage wouldn't be "fully adjustable for windage".
According to the guy at LoneWolfDist, all you need is a 3/32 socket to change the front sight.

I made some somewhat foolish assumptions in my list of possible modifications. Since almost all of the Glock shooters I know are "gamers" and the G34 and G35 were made specifically for IPSC and IDPA, I tend to forget there are other gun owners in the world. In any case, I think you will like the fiber optic front sight. I envy your great purchase!
