jchez; I do not know much on the price of the Springfield G.I. 1911A1, but I do know that I found the Colt version was priced to sell new at around $800. where I'm from. The Colts are sometimes very difficult to find, and when they do come in they sell rather quickly, making their used value very good. Trading or selling through a dealer contributes to a lower price value because he has to mark the price up from what he paid the seller, in order to make any profit. Trading the gun to a dealer is about the same, unless it is for another pre-owned gun. Depends on the demand for that certain pistol in your area. Most people I know, who trade and sell, are extremely happy with a $250. dollar loss on a handgun that cost $700. - $750 new. What ever he gives you, he has to mark that price up and stay competitive with the new pistol while making a profit. You can try going to the gunbroker auction to see if they have any pre-owned Springfield G.I. 1911A1s, to check what they are going for there. www.gunbroker.com

If you sell it privately, you should get between $350 and $400. If you trade it in or sell it at a dealer, expect $100 less.
