I have been doing some on-line research on these guns, and understand that they are Italian made (Tanfoglio) and relatively inexpensive. I was wondering if anyone had any first-hand experience with European Amercian Armory products? I was hoping to get some feedback from some actual owners specifically the low down on a full size polymer 9mm or .40cal. Now I know that many gun owners are of the belief that if you didn't spend the better part of a grand on a weapon it isn't worth consideration, I for one, believe in value or "bang for the buck." I would like to have something that has a low acquisition cost and is somewhat tuneable. I want a gun that can be made to be better than "combat accurate." But I don't want to shell out the dough to buy some donor 1911 that I have to dump (ahem...excuse me...invest) $800.00 to get shooting well.

My dad has the EAA .45 with a .22 conversion kit. He really likes it. It's not quite as good as the CZ .45, but it has a better trigger and the .22 is accurate to the range of his vision (admittedly, not very good).
It's my understanding that EAA is basically a clone of the CZ system. It's also related to the Baby Eagle in some strange way.
Hope that helps. Kev

...It's my understanding that EAA is basically a clone of the CZ system. It's also related to the Baby Eagle in some strange way... My experience with Tanfoglio equals my experience with Fiat, another Italian manufacturer - i.e. not very good. However, I have both the CZ-75 and the Baby Eagle. Basically they are the same design, much like the many different versions of 1911. My Baby Eagle has a much better trigger feel than the CZ-75, and for that reason, I would recommend it over either the CZ-75 or the EAA Witness (although I've never shot the Witness). To be fair, my Tanfoglio is quite a bit older and the newer versions, like the newer Jags since Ford took over, may be a lot better and more reliable. So if Tanfoglio had a good reputation like Beretta, why wouldn't they market the pistols under their own name vs. "EAA"? Do the different models make a difference? Well, I have a Beretta Tomcat (.32ACP), which I pretty much hate, and I have a Beretta Stampede (.357Magnum), which is one of my most cherished possessions. Am I helping? I don't think so - guess I'll go to bed.

Dutchtrs, I have 3 EAA Witness' and I like them a lot. One is a Stainless 45ACP. Full size, One is a Stainless 9mm Full Size, and One is a Blued 9mm Full Size. The Blued 9mm I have shot about 800 rounds through, and it has been very reliable and accurate. They do have lifetime warranties as well. I have looked at one EAA Witness with a polymer frame and I wasn't impressed with it. I can highly reccomend the EAA Witness' with steel frame. Can't really say about the polymer framed Witness'.

... Can't really say about the polymer framed Witness'. Mountaineer, glad to hear from someone that has and likes them. I heard great reviews about the Baby Eagle, saw one, liked it, ordered one, and received the new polymer version. I was a bit disappointed. However, it is a great gun. The only odd thing I found is when I get tired sometimes I limp wrist it, and the slide seems to work in slow motion. It is really noticeable.
