A good friend of mine called me yesterday and asked if I would be interested in buying his old Hi Standard Olympic (he thinks it's an Olympic, there is no markings of a name) Semi-Auto 22LR handgun. He says that it is in great condition and was at one point his grandfather's gun.
I know nothing about Hi Standard and was hoping that you all could shed some light on them. Maybe let me know what to look for when I look at the gun.
He thinks it's late 60's to early-mid 70's model but he's not sure, he's had it since the early 80's. He wants $175 for it.
Another thing, it's unregistered because of the age of the firearm. If I buy it ... do I have to register it?
Wish I had more info to give you guys to base your opinion on, but that's all I know right now, I haven't looked at it myself yet.
Thanks as always!

I'd be a bit concerned about the unregistered thing. If PA requires handgun registration, you may be buying into $175 worth of hassle... Maybe there's some info at www.packing.org.

I checked packing.org before and couldn't find anything. This is something I will have to find out before I make up my mind.
