When someone mentions a handgun, I usually have a good idea what they are talking about. So the mention of a SIG Mosquito really bugged me. What the heck is that? The SIG Arms email came in today, and also made mention of another version of the SIG Pro (contract awarded to the Army), a new 226 called the X-Five, an all stainless 229 (whoo hoo!), and a bunch of limited edition finishes for the rest of the family too. Time for a new catalog...

MLB; My Sig Update arrived, via email, also. Seems like alot has been going on with Sig this year. The Sigarms website leads to an entire global network of Swiss and German manufacturing facilities, not to mention their regularly maintained updated areas. I found their Mosquito and 226 X-Five on their New Products page. Another mention is the disqualification of some of the Sig pistols for IDPA, due to weight requirements; I have not looked into this yet. www.sigarms.com/products/newproducts.asp

Hmmm, clicking on the picture did nothing. Looking at the HTML for the page: there isn't a link there. So is there some other way to get to the specifications or having they published all of it yet?
They did mention a polymer frame, which kind of turns me off. I would like it better if it had the same weight as the P226. I problably wouldn't notice the 10% reduction in size, but I bet I'd notice the difference in weight.
At one point I was considering a Kimber chambered in .22LR. After picking one up and feeling how light it was, I changed my mind. IMHO if you are going to have the look and feel of a 1911 it should weigh the same too.

TMan; The Sigarms site is fat with information; This information on the Mosquito can be found in the press release section. I have not found any detailed photo enlargements though. For it's price we can't expect as much as the others. ;D www.sigarms.com/news/index.asp?display=detail&id=78

Thanks DA, I was looking under New Products, and they didn't have a link there. I wasn't aware of the Press Releases.
Unless I hear some raving reports, I think I'll pass on this one. It definitely is not a replacement for my Trailside. It is probably meant to compete with the S&W 22A and Beretta U22 Neos. I've never shot either of those by the way, but I've held them in my hand. They definitely do have a nice feel to them. For some reason I don't shoot the 41 or the 87 all that much, so I never considered their little brothers. I seem to find myself shooting the Rugers more than anything else, but I do have something else in mind, but I'll start another thread.
