Dang credit cards - I had no intention of buying another .22 semi, let alone a Buckmark - all I needed was some patches. Looking at guns on display, I spotted a limited edition Buckmark with some really neat grips. However, I wasn't wild about the barrel, and I certainly didn't want another Buckmark. I told the guy behind the counter that I'd want to sleep on it - I never, ever just buy a gun the first time I see it. Then the gunsmith came out and said: "Hey, I got something in the safe you might be interested in." I heard a sucking sound. Ooooh - pretty, and has a fiber optic front sight too, and is set up for a scope, and I didn't leave home without my American Express card. Well, I didn't leave the shop without the Buckmark Hunter either. The guy behind to counter just let me have that thought you never buy without thinking it over look. At least he didn't say it. www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/detail.asp?value=006B&cat_id=051&type_id=403

TMan; I like the barrel and sight rib; The Browning grips are always much better than the aftermarkets I find. I noticed the msrp is $360; Seems like the prices on the Buckmarks have stabilized very well during the past ten years.

Yeah, the price was a factor. I paid $349. This particular store has the highest prices around, but they are a full service store. I wouldn't buy a P7M8 (seems to be in the back of my mind) from them, but for less expensive guns... The most expensive I bought from them was my little Kimber. Price isn't the only factor, I really like the owner and his staff.
The grips are really neat in that there is a little place for your thumb whether you hold it in your right hand or in your left hand. The bad news is the trigger, but since the MSRP is almost half what I paid for my other Buckmark, I figure you get what you pay for. They had two of them and I went for the one that showed more grain. I know better woods don't have that much grain, but what can I say - I like character.
I was shooting my buddy's Buckmark on Tuesday, and he added the fiber-optic sight to his. I shot well with it, as of course did he.

MLB, the grips were the main reason I bought the old Browning. It seemed to me in the store that when I dry-fired the Hunter that the trigger was a bit heavy. So, when I got it home I pulled out the gauge to get a reading of 4.5lbs vs. 2.75 on the old one (when it was new). Looking in the Brownells catalog, I don't see anything specific for the Bullseye Target that would make it 2.75 i.e. it doesn't list different springs etc. Could it be that it is just that they stoned the sear and trigger, and polished things up inside. I suppose if I wasn't so lazy I could go get the old one out of storage, take it apart and compare the two. Of course then I'd run the risk of mixing the parts up. (I've had to put up with me all my life).
