I saw a guy at the range today shooting the badest looking pistol I've ever seen. Having gotten over my shyness about 50 years ago, I walked up to him and said: "What the heck is that!!!". He grinned from ear to ear and said: "It is an AR-15 pistol.".
Naturally being the wimp that I am, I had to enquire about the recoil. He said that is wasn't bad at all. I asked him who made it and he named some company I had never heard of.
I've never owned a gun that shot the .223, but Uncle Sam loaned me one in Vietnam for a year. I don't recall what the recoil was like, but I don't think it was bad. I've never priced the ammo, but lookiing at the size of it in the magazine, I bet it is a lot more than 9mm.
Anyone ever own or shoot one of these?

TMan; There are so many chamber variations for the AR-15 types, it's difficult to keep up, I know there are 9mm and .40 S&W. The pistol versions have been around for sometime, with a carbon fiber version. One of the members has one of the carbon fiber versions that we talked about in an earlier thread; I'll see if I can find it. Olympic Arms made a pistol version where the magazine was permantely attached, due to some sort of federal BATF rule. The absolute coolest of the bunch was an M-16 shorty full auto commado, with the 10 inch barrel, and car stock, that I seen a guy with in Vietnam. Looked like it would have been an easy weapon to manuver in a closed area.

I think I saw that picture once before, but it didn't register - I just thought it was a rifle. Seeing one in person is a different story.
