I was doing a bit of reading on Walther firearms, and as you invariably do when reading of Walthers, I came across this "James Bond" site. It's not a bad read, but skip past all of the Bond hype, and down to the bottom where they describe a custom handgun called the ASP, based on a S&W Model 39. Does anyone know of a current production handgun with the "guttersnipe sight" as describled here? Seems like it would be very effective. www.hmss.com/qbranch/qb0101.htm

We had this on one of our forums before and I can't remember what we found out in regards to this sighting system. I do know that there are several versions of a channeled gutter milled into the slide from the rear to the muzzle of a pistol. North Americam Arms has their version of the Gutter Snipe sight. Oh yes; T-Branch issued Bond his sidearm ( See Doctor No when Bond's Beretta was replaced by the Walther PPK) , Q- Branch issued Bond certain weapons and devices of special applications, such as the outfitted Aston Martin DB-5 of Goldfinger fame.

Wait, I seem to be missing something here. This is a .32 ACP Guardian, and you are going to put $150 sights on it? The reason for this is for shooting at 200 yard targets? ;D
Yeech, my Seecamp doesn't even have sights on it.

The NAA guttersnipe is interesting, but really just the same as other 3 dot systems, just recessed.
What caught my attention was the 3 pyramid concept. It seems like it would intuitively line up for me.

MLB; I remember looking at these sights and the ASP and found something on it.
The ASP is of The Armament Systems & Procedures of Appleton, Wisconsin. This Company converted the ASP Combat from the 9mm Smith & Wesson Model 39 in the mid 1980s. The pistol was designed as a reliable, powerful and concealable pistol for police and security forces. All the working surfaces of the pistol were ground and polished, with a smooth exterior. The trigger components were honed, with a newly fitted recoil spring. Clear plastic grips allowed the contents of the slotted magazine to be visible. The gun, along with the Guttersnipe sights, was made in limited quanities on special order, and never available to the general public. I tried to find it on the internet with no luck; Maybe a search on the company who did the work will turn up something current.

Pistol only, accessories & literature sold separately. - cal. 9mm - Excellent plus condition. - Retains 99%+ ASP black teflon finish; excellent mech & bore. Custom features include shortened frame, slide & barrel; Guttersnipe yellow channel sighting system; transparent lexan patented grips, ASP marked visible cartridges magazine. - These ASP (Armament Systems & Procedures) conversions were *the* hot set-up for 9mm deep-cover mini-guns in the 1980's before factories caught on to the market for these, and in many ways were the predecessors of the small frame S&W compact auto series. Includes the one magazine that's in the pistol, see next lot for mag pouch, spare mag & litereature. - s/n A157044 - FFL - estimate $900-$1,600 [LR] armsbid.com/des1588.htm

Wow, you found quite a bit of info on that realtively obscure pistol. The clear lexan grips were another excellent idea (for it's intended use anyway)

A lot of good ideas in that pistol, not $4000 (new)worth in my opinion, but still a good read. I realize that new/unfired price is more for the collector. As I said before, I'd have a hard time not firing it. Guess, if I were to buy one, I'd go for the bargain price of $1600
Nice work guys.

Rumor had it that the ASP was made for an unnamed government agency.
