I just broke down and picked up the HK USP .40sw compact and I haven't been able to shoot it yet. I am planning on shooting it tomorrow. I know HK's in general are very accurate weapons however I was wondering what you guys thought of the HK USP .40 compact and what ammo seems to work best with this gun. I bought it for $689 new w/ 2 10rd. mags do u think that was a good deal??

Welcome to the Forum, Pandemonia HK owner.
I really can't help you too much. I have the SIG equivalent to the HK compact, the P239. I know a good price on one of those is $600 and they can run up to about $700. The HKs are a bit pricier, so it sounds to me like you made a good deal.
Try to find something sold in boxes of 50 that it likes. Remington (Express) and Federal are two that I've had good luck with. If it likes Winchester White Box in JHP you are in gun heaven because you can get that at Wal-Mart for about $12 or so for 50.
The pricey stuff in boxes of 20 would include Federal, Triton and Cor-Bon in 135-grain personal defense loads.
I like the Remington Express in 155-grain. Good ammo. With the lighter bullets, you will find your .40 entering .357 Magnum territory performancewise...
Happy shooting and congrats on having such a fine pistol!

That is an excellent price if it is the blued model, it is outstanding if it is stainless steel. I'm assuming it is blued, in fact I've never even seen the H&K in stainless.
What you paid was 7% above dealer cost, which is what my favorite dealer charges.
I have one H&K chambered in 9mm, and I thought of buying another one, but they really don't fit my hand all that well. Before I bought mine, I went to a range and rented 4 guns I was interested in. I shot each one into a different target, marked the targets and took them home. I added up the scores and the H&K was the big winner by far. As far as the "feel" of shooting it, I liked it the best too, so I bought the H&K Elite.
One day at the range there were a couple of air marshals there shooting. I stood there with my mouth open looking like a retard. I couldn't believe how accurate they were, and some with rapid fire too. I asked them what they were shooting, and they told me that it was the H&K chambered in .40 S&W. So you are in good company.
In summary: you did well in your gun choice, and you got an excellent price.
Welcome to the forum, and let us know how it shoots.

I too own the HK USP compact in .40. I bought mine barely used, so I can't help you with the price. I tried a bunch of different loads in it. The one that worked best for me was a winchester load. I ended up buying a case of 500. My friend bought the equivalent in Glock, and I must say the HK is vastly superior (sorry Glock fans). Have fun with the new toy!
