The other thread got me thinking about some amazing shots I've seen.
An aquaintence of mine would shoot dimes at ~ 30ft with aS&W 4" 38spl. Don't ask the model #, I can't recall. He'd hit the dime probably 1 in 3 shots.
I saw an some old footage of a trick shootet that would shoot the ejected .22lr cases as he ejected them from his .22 pump. He did some other amazing shooting. I think his name was Herb Parsons.

what about that fastest shooter in the world guy (maybe the same guy) he could empty his six shooter on balloons so fast it sounded like one shot. he palm-shot the hammer to get the shots off (obv. i guess the trigger'd be too slow) whats the term for this? but anyway he was fairly close -- 7 yards i guess, but still amazing speed from draw and reholster. i can draw kinda fast, SAFELY, but i bet its not as fast as tmans checkbook draws i read the procedure. start with the hands up position, starting slow and correct, draw the gun with shooting hand (at all times -- trigger finger pointing with the barrel until you are ready to shoot)while the opposite (open) hand balances in front of your belt buckle area, till it meets the drawing/drawn gun as you aim, then you'd shoot. they recommended this with empty gun, 50 times a day for one month (keeping the procedure correct) before you actually did it. i have been practicing, but the shirt is always a slowdown in real life situation.

Some fast draw artists use the wax bullets and primer caps for the propellant. Bill Jordan was very fast on the draw; He could set a cup on top of the back side of his hand, draw for his revolver with the same hand, and shoot the cup before it hit the ground. The cup would be between the waist and knees when the bullet impacted; This was done using one hand with a double action trigger.

I do not think there is another man alive who can empty a double action revolver faster than Jerry Miculek. The first time I saw him shoot, it was like watching someone shooting a machine pistol.

Is he firing a Python in that clip?

I recall it to be a 686, but I'm not positive.

Well I doubt it was a Python, unless it was before he became the S&W darling. My guess is that he is shooting two different guns in the clip. Notice that he does 6 rounds, reloads, and six more rounds. In another place he shoots 8 rounds.
I think the 6 rounds are with the 625, and the 8 rounds are with the 627.
Okay, DA, we are waiting to hear from you... ;D

I did not view the clip but I know Miculek favors speed shooting and fast reloading with the moonclips. He also likes the heavier N-Frames to absorb recoil better for those faster followups and split times. When Miculek began working with S&W, the folks at S&W began making higher capacity N-Frame revolvers in .357 magnum, with moonclip recesses. First time I saw Miculek shoot he was using a S&W model 25 in .45 acp with moonclips, which it's always been. The 627 with the 8 rd. cylinder is called the "8 Times"; Clint Eastwood had a short barrel version in one of his movies. My brother had one, which I have pictures of somewhere. The oldest video I have on tape with Miculek shooting, is about twelve years old, which features him with the S&W 25. He also does gunsmithing through Clark Custom Guns ( Kay Clark Miculek, the daughter of Jim Clark Sr. is Jerry's wife ) and has produced instructional video tapes on how to do trigger jobs on the S&W revolvers. I'll view the footage and see if I can tell anything from it

I just viewed the clip; This one is when Miculek broke the world speed shooting record. He used the S&W 627 V-comp 8 rd, .357 magnum, for the 1.06 record for 8 shots using this revolver. For the six shot , 2.99 sec. record and reload stage, he used the S&W 625. Both revolvers used moonclips, ala Miculek fashion. You can read more in detail about this monumental event for Miculek, and the folks at the S&W Performance Center, on Smith & Wesson's website. EDITED : This link is not working to it's path, you might try typing it in.

Jerry used to shoot a Model 27 with an 8-3/8 inch barrel for his speed shooting tricks. It was basically a stock gun with the trigger slicked up from thousands of rounds fired double action. He later switched to the 625 and 627 for the modern speed shooting/reloading records, but he still shoots that old Model 27.

No, no, no. Jerry is fast and accurate.
Bob is an alien. I've seen him do all kinds of trick shots. If my memory serves me correct (a first) he is also incredible with a long bow. A guy that can throw multiple coins in the air and shoot them before they hit the ground... I've seen him throw a dime in the air and shoot it.
No way could a human being do the things that Bob Munden can do.
Hey, thanks for the information. I see he has some neat stuff for sale too. Where's my wallet?
(Side note: if you carry your wallet in your rear pocket, remove it before going on an overseas flight. It can be a real pain in the rear otherwise.)

I used to watch Bob Munden when he was on American Shooter every week; This guy was born in the wrong century.

I once read where Miculek was using handloaded 230 gr. full wadcutter .357 bulets, loaded to around 950 fps., for his 8 inch model 27 in the Second chance Pin matches. That's why he went to the heavier frame 27.
