For those who might run up on a good deal involving a pre-owned Sig 220 in .45 acp, it might be of interest to know that some changes were made to this pistol through the years. The European style (butt) catch to the American release is the most common change in the early Sig 220. Another change occured, beginning with serial number #219166, which involved the increase of the frame's thickness in critical areas to better handle the hotter loads of the +P cartridges. Certain small areas of the frame's mass were also repositioned, extended, or widened. For those who forget the serial number reference to this; The difference can also be found in the shape of the hammer. The older hammer spur comes to a longer, sharper edge, while the newer hammer is has a rounded contour.

Mitch; I've heard of a few that were satisfied with the Sig factory refurbs. If I bought one, it would have to be through Sigarms; I can usually run up on NIB Sigs for $500. from the original owners.

The P220 CPO's are somewhat scarce these days. If you are interested, it would benefit you to speak with James at Ordnance Outsellers. He has really good prices and service. He has a great reputation on the Sig Forum. www.ordnanceoutsellers.com/ Tell him Tom from Top Gun Supply sent you. Hopefully he won't raise the price. He is advertising a few P229 DAK models in like new condition for $499.00 sigforum.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/350601935/m/396101853
