The most memorable for me is not a handgun, it is an old single shot bolt .22. It was my grandfather's, then my dad's and now I have it. It still shoots pretty well too. But I'm usually too lazy to shoot it. It was the first gun that I ever shot. I remember my dad teaching me to shoot it off the front porch of the old family farm.
A close second was the first 12ga I shot. 3" magnum shells. It was about all my young body and shoulder could handle. My shoulder has not forgot that pain. It kinda aches as a type this. I lighlty shouldered it like I did a .22, but very quickly discovered that I should really make sure the gun is pulled in tight against the shoulder.
My first handgun was a friend's cheap 9mm, I don't even know the make. It made me bleed, I remember that!!

For the pure pleasure of shooting; I enjoy the guns I have now more than those I've fired in the past. I usually don't take to shooting other's guns as much as I do my own, but things were different when I was younger. Back then most of the guns I shot belonged to other people and I didn't really get to enjoy those guns as much as my own. The 1911 in .45 acp, Colt's Python and S&W's 27 in .357 magnum, and a few of the Sigs in .357 sig, has provided me with alot of fond memories.

I'll break it down to type:
Semi-Auto: No question about it - the Sig P220 Sport. Remember the old Wendy's commercial: hey, where's the beef? Well, this was: hey, where's the recoil?
Revolver: the big winner is - the S&W 460 XVR Everything about this revolver is impressive. It is still hard for me to believe it didn't come out of the Performance Center.
Rifle: M1 Carbine. Never owned one, but I'll never forget shooting one in the service and qualifying with it.
Other: Well it is sold as a semi-automatic "pistol", but its father was an AR-15 - the Bushmaster 97s.
Most memorable not shot: My engraved Jennings J-22. It is one little beauty with the exception of the icky trigger. It won out over a Colt Python, which I will shoot when I get around to it, and a P7M8 Jubilee, which is at the very bottom of the safe, and I have no plans of ever shooting.

My earliest memory was the old Marlin .22 single bolt action rifle that started me back in my High School rifle team.
I plan to find one just like it, and come the age of 15 with my son, start him off with that Marlin.

Of all the guns I've shot, my old J.C. Higgins bolt action 22 rifle has provided me with the most enjoyment. My dad gave it to me when I was about 13, he had used it when he was young.

Ny first handgun experience was a Springfield Mil Spec 1911. My first shot scared the crap out of me because I was nervous to begin with at the range handling my first handgun and not knowing what to expect from a handgun. To top it off the guy next to us on our left was shooting a .44 magnum so it was booming like hell, startling and unsettling me. LOL! On my second go around, the guy had switched to his 1911 and as he was shooting ,his spent casings were flying into our booth as I was trying to shoot, thus very distracting as I was trying to get used to the 1911 I was handling. LOL! But as we were leaving the range, I was hooked with the bug! ;D

The firts gun I ever shot was an old Marlin single shot .22 that my grandfather bought for my dad in the late 60's and the nostolgia of that gun has always made it enjoyable. The first handgun that I ever shot was a Ruger .44 magnum at the age of 9. Talk about a gun that would scare the crap out of a kid. Anyway, since then it has become a bit of a passion for me to take on guns that many people shied away from. I now own two .44's, a Ruger and a S&W, a S&W .50 caliber revolver a couple of .300 magnum rifles and my favorite the Mossberg 835 ulti-mag that shoots 3 1/2 inch number 8 shot for turkeys. My dad bought that shotgun, shot it twice and passed it off to me. I also have an old Saturday night special .22 that I love to just play with although I have found cap guns that have better operation.

I'd like to hear your thoughts about the S&W 500. Most everyone that I've talked to would like to try it, but not keep it.
