This is where Smith & Wesson and Colt put their very best feet forward. The S&W Model 27 is ,without a doubt, one of the best shooting revolvers I have ever fired. I can only compare shooting this revolver with that of Colt's Python. For anyone looking into the first double action .357 magnum, and don't want to spend on the Python, I recommend looking into a vintage S&W Model 27.

I know there are those who would prefer mid size frame revolvers for carry, and those who like the smaller frames for concealment in the .357 magnum. This thread is about other characteristics.

I have been keeping my eyes peeled for a 27-2 in 4" or 5". That and/or a 586 are on my "watch list".

There are some handguns I like, others I'm fond of, and there are those I have alot of respect for, which tells lot about the people who built the gun.
