Are you talking about stripping the gun for cleaning, or stripping it to refinish it? Home parkerizing: www.jouster.com/articles30m1/parkerizing.htmlhome reblueing: www.bluewonder.us/BlueWonderGunBlue.htmlthere are other home blue kits available too. The BW product worked very well on an friend's old shotgun, fwiw. field stripping: remove the magazine, Make sure the gun is unloaded. Double check it is unloaded. 1. pull slide all way back (tripple check it is unloaded) 2. insert ball point pen into plastic retainer on back of slide and push all way in. (look at the back of the slide. There should be a circle with a hook on the bottom which holds the slide in place. Put the ball point pin in the little hole and push in.) 3. lift up slide and carefully let slide move forward. 4. If you were not careful in step 3, get on floor and start looking for springs I hope you have better luck with yours than most people. Most people talk very poorly about Davis. I've never shot one. They aren't known for their durability, reliability, or accuracy.
