OK, as some of you know, I've been toying around with getting a Springfield Armory (SA) Longslide 1911. www.springfield-armory.com/prod-pstl-1911-ls.shtmlI was on the phone today with my dealer complaining that their web-site didn't have prices on any of the Springfield Armory guns. She said it was because of their price increases. While we were on the phone, she asked me the model number, and I looked it up on the SA web-site. She read the specs as I was reading them at the same time from the SA web-site. Then I hit where it says: Their other guns are 5 to 6 lbs. What could "specially tuned for competition" mean? Kimber advertises 3.5 to 4.5

Having a pen-pal at Henry Repeating Arms, with the problems I had with the U.S. Survivor Rifle, it dawned on me that I should just send an e-mail to Springfield Armory and see what they say. I got a quick reply from them.

Being Specially Tuned for Competition at 5 to 6lbs., then offering lighter pulls through their Custom shop, with signed waviers from the customer, it makes me wonder what they think about the customers buying these pistols. Specially Tuned for Competition should be much better than 5 to 6 lbs; I get better pulls from my factory stock Sig Sauer defensive carry pistols.

I think the standard, non tuned, out of the box XD's are at least that good, and they aren't advertised as Specially Tuned for Competition. And that's from the same company!!

My XD isn't that good. It breaks at 6.5 lbs, but is a great shooter.
Modified to add: Incidentally, in case you haven't figured it out - the SA Longslide is no longer on my want list. Hey, once you own an engraved Jennings, why would you want anything else?
I've defenitely had too much to dring tonite.

So 5-6lbs is specially tuned, but 6.5lbs is standard? I realize this is somewhat an apples to oranges kind of thing here, but it is from the same company... I've defenitely had too much to dring tonite. Clearly
