Yesterday when trying the new 45, the guy next to me said: "You should get something like this with a bit less recoil".
From the sound of it, it had to be a 22, but I'd never seen anything like it before. He went on to tell me that it was a Phoenix, and the hammer had broken twice, but they had fixed it and told him that it was a part problem from their supplier, but should be okay now.
It was a little odd looking with a rib on the top of it. I didn't notice how well he was shooting with it.
He seemed rather proud of it. Anyone ever hear of it?

TMan; I've heard of Phoenix Arms. The Raven is one of their pistols, along with the HP22 and HP25 ( named for their calibers).
Edited to add: I had to do a check to reaffirm my thought about this pistol. These are the cheaper variety of pocket carry semi-autos. I've seen some of these on line at the range with all kind of problems, not with just the company the gun was keeping but with broken extractors, failures to feed, failures to eject, and failures to fire.

Crap, I wonder if he was being sarcastic. I think I'm kind of naive when it comes to somethings. Yesterday at the gun store one of the guys behind the counter mentioned a couple of pigs that were outside in a cage. He said if you went out there and stuck your finger in the catch they would just lick your finger to death. I believed him, but fortunately I didn't go outside. Later a Mexican kid came in to buy the pigs, and the gunsmith said to me: "Come see the rodeo." Well these were wild hogs and were vicious. I imagine if you stuck your finger in there, one of those little suckers would have bit it off. I'd hate to see what full grown ones would have been like. FYI the guy that trapped them got $15 a piece for them. I don't know if they were good eating or not, but they sure were mean. Now I know where taco meat comes from

TMan; I just don't know what to think when I see three big burly looking guys walk in and the three of them have one Phoenix Raven between all three to shoot, with one box of ammunition, and then the pistols fails to strip the empty case out of the chamber. Then they walk over to me and ask for some help in fixin their pistol.

I don't know if they were good eating or not, but they sure were mean. I can tell you the chops from the feral boar hog we shot this year are, surprisingly to me, outstanding. I can honestly say those pork chops were as good or better than store-bought. The only explanation I can offer is that perhaps they eat better in the wild than on a pig farm. I expected meat from a boar to be strong, not as good as from a sow -- not so. We had the meat processor add some of the pork from that hog to the venison from my deer so the sausage would not be so lean. It is really excellent, genuine Texas venison sausage. You would not believe how full the deep freeze is.

Guess the guy with the Phoenix thought it would be OK to talk to the guy with the Armscor. Had you been shooting some of the stuff you usually fire he might have been a bit quieter. Certainly, he wouldn't have suggested you buy a Phoenix! ;D
