I started dating my gf last summer. I'm in MI and about 30min from Windsor, ONT where she lives. Needless to say, when she found out I was a gun owner she was more than a little skeptical. I'm proud to say that not only are we still together, but I got her to the range yesterday!
We started with my old High Standard .22 revolver at only 5yds. She did well enough and liked it enough that we broke out the Sig. I was a bit nervous about her shooting my P239 since it's a .357sig, but she was a champ. After the first round she said she was done, but then kept coming back to it.
I would let her load one/shoot one and then load two/shoot two until she got up the 3 rounds comfortably. It was also reassuring seeing her practice perfect trigger discipline, keeping her finger out of the trigger guard until her sights were on target as well as good use of the decocker. I guess it made me feel like I was doing something right by seeing her doing things correctly.
I don't think anyone should ever complain about the recoil of a .357sig. She's 5'2" and maybe 110lbs. At 15ft. she had 2 in the 10ring and kept them all on the paper.
I wish I had some pics to share, but she really did do well and we should all bit a bit more excited today knowing one more anti-gun person (a Canadian no less!) is looking forward to going back to the range.

Good show. I think in retrospect you did best by starting out with a small caliber first. I went the other way with my next door neighbor. I started her with the CZ-75 in 9mm and then a Ruger MKII. She really liked the Ruger.
My dealer took his wife to the range and let her shoot a handgun for the first time - a Kimber 1911 in 45 ACP. She hated it.
I've taken her a couple of times and although I did let her shoot a 45 ACP, it was the Sig 220 Sport, which is a big, heavy, compensated pistol. She did very well with it. Surprisingly, she did better with it than she did with the 22LR's she shot.
She hated guns too, but after her husband started the business, she got involved with it. I found out last week why she hated guns. Her sister's husband took a 22LR revolver and shot her sister in the mouth. The bullet spit her tongue open, she aspirated the blood, and died. He got life in prison.
I'll be taking her to the range again next month, and she already gave me a list of what she wants to shoot. One of which is the new S&W M&P-15 she sold me.
