Alright, I got some strange looks from guys at the range, and some serious ribbing from my shooting buddy this weekend.
After, I'm done shooting a pistol and it cools some, I put a paper towel in my gun rug and then my pistol goes in between the folded part of the towel and then I close the gun rug. I don't like to put a dirty gun in the same place where I keep the clean ones. Seems like wiping your dirty hands on a towel, washing them, and then drying them with the same towel.
So, am I way out there, too particular, or at least making a little bit of sense? (Now, I'm just talking about the towel in the gun rug thing. Not life in general.)

Hey you paid your hard earned money for the firearm and it belongs to you. Who cares what others think? I guess with my black sponge like material in my carry case I have never thought of it. Now it will cross my mind each time I put them back after shooting! ;D G

I don't use the gun rugs. Instead all my pistols go into socks, and then into my "computer" case. I don't want to get the socks dirty on the inside so I carry a silicon cloth in my bag that I wipe them off with before putting them back into their socks.
One day another member came up to me and said: "Hey, if you ever want to trade some guns, let me know because I sure like the way that you take care of your guns. "

I carry a silicone rag with me to wipe my guns before putting them back into the holster or rug. I try to refrain from carrying more guns than I can holster; which is usually two. There are certain pistols I have which is difficult to holster, it is then where I use a case or rug and have to keep a very close eye on them when I'm shooting other pistols. There was a time when I would carry up to four different handguns holstered on my person to the range. No one knew how many guns I would have on me until I showed a few to a Range Guy one day. He made the remark that I would be locked up if I ever got stopped and searched by the police. I don't like shooting with other people on both sides of me; I have always used the far right lane, with my brother on my left. I have had new comers reach into my bag, when shooting from the middle lane, while I was shooting to get Shoot N C targets, use my staple gun, or just being nosey. The range is not a good place for a confrontation of any sort, however, if it were a gun instead of a target or staple gun things would be much less cordial.

Well, that makes perfect sense 5OT. I have to admit that I just give it a quick wipe down before they go back in the rug / holster though.
