I popped in to my local, favorite gun shop to find his stock of guns rebuilt after a period of almost empty cases.
There was a new S&W 908S. It resembles the 3913, a 9 mm that was sold as a LadySmith and a combat version (basically the same gun, but without the Lady name attached). I had a 3913 at one time and it was nice and thin, but a bit long and heavy for carry. The new 908S has a 3.5" barrel and is all metal (alloy frame, stainless slide). It felt very good in my hand and has 'custom' features - a smooth, clean trigger pull, some edges smoothed for carry, Novak sights, hand fitted barrel. Pretty good for a gun the shop was selling for a touch over $400.
The other was a S&W 640 (if I recall). It was identical to my 642, except that the hammer was accessible, although shrouded, rather than completely enclosed. Feels the same as my 642, but can be fired single action unlike my DA 642.
I also had a chance to hold the Springfield XD 45. I love my XD 40, but have been hot to get a 45. I thought it would be a 1911, but now I am thinking about that XD 45.
On top of that, a fellow I met there offered to sell me his Rossi lever action (like the model 94) in 357 for $150. Very tempting.
Over and out.
