I wanted to try some different manufacturers 22LR ammo tomorrow, so I headed out this afternoon to pick some up.
The fine gun room, where they have all kinds of used handguns, rifles, and shotguns, drew me like a magnet. In there they had a good looking Colt Anaconda chambered in 44 Magnum, with what looked to be an 8" barrel. I told the manager I'd like to see it. He replied: "You don't want that - it is just a trooper - it isn't a Python." I then asked him if he had anything I would want, and he said: "No".
I was kind of surprised by his response concerning the Anaconda. I was under the impression that they were a good shooting gun. Anyone have experience or knowledge they would like to share?
Oh, the price tag was $899 and it did show a little bit of wear. I'd say it was about 95%.

TMan; By the time Colt's Anaconda came out, S&W and Ruger were holding the high cards on the .44 magnum double action revolvers. I did see one used in a wild boar hunt on a hunting show from Georgia Outdoors a few years ago. The revolver used on the show got very tight shot groups at the range. Colt was trying to play catch up with S&W for a few years with the King Cobra and the Anaconda, in a market where S&W and Ruger shared most of the interest. I would not pay $899. for a used Anaconda, considering all the Ruger Redhawks, Ruger Super Redhawks, and S&Ws which can be found for far less.
