I've toyed with the idea, toyed with the idea, finally asked for a price quote and found that she had one in stock. www.taurususa.com/products/product-details.cfm?model=444SS8&category=RevolverShe also had the Model 44 in stock, and I actually liked the sights and feel in my hand of the 44, but I opted for the Raging Bull in spite of the fact that logically I should have gotten the Model 44. I found out that there is Estrogen in Soy milk. That might account for some recent purchases... well, at least for the buying patterns. Goat milk - yuk.

I can't see how that can compare to your 460 XVR. You've spoiled yourself.

Well, I wanted another gun that shot 44 Magnum. I also want another gun that will shoot 454 Casull, and I'm leaning toward the Ruger Alaskan. I never considered that it would compete with the 460 XVR. However, I consider the design point for this gun is that it will shoot a lot more ammo without wearing out than the 460 XVR will. Incidentally, this gun was on my plan for the year: handgunforum.proboards3.com/index.cgi?board=talking&action=display&n=1&thread=1327 It wasn't an impulsive buy.

I have a hard time getting over the GIANT BILLBOARD on the barrel. That's one of those guns that would have to shoot very well to overcome it's looks IMO. I think I'd much rather find and old M29.

The big golden receiver (cover) is the major reason I went with the H001T instead of the Golden Boy. I sent them an email trying to convince them that a blued receiver cover would sell well, but alas, they are set on the powder coated aluminum one.
It may be a steel-aluminum corrosion issue. It was addressed in some way with the barrel though.

Wow, this thing is heavy. Shooting it off-hand at 7 yards resulted in the first 5 rounds (I only load 5 out of habit) touching. I then moved the target out to 15 yards and started jerking the trigger. The thing is so heavy that when I actually got it on center of the target, I was jerking the trigger to try to get the shot off while on target.
This thing can wear you out in a hurry because of the weight. However, because of the weight and porting there wasn't any noticeable recoil. It is less than shooting my 38 Special "pimp gun", and there isn't any trigger slap.
However, I don't think I'm going to let my dealer shoot it because of the weight. Monday I'm going to let her shoot the Taurus 608 with S&B .357 Magnum rounds. The S&B .38 Special box is the same size as the .357 Magnum box, so I stuck magnum rounds in the 38 Special box. When we clean up, I'll tell her to put a case in her pocket to have her husband look at the primer strike. Hey, I won't be telling a lie, and I'll be out of gun shot range by the time she discovers that she was actually shooting a 357 Magnum.

I took another look at the Raging Bull this weekend while scoping scopes. That's quite a bit of barrel on that thing. Does it feel front heavy, or is that mostly just a shroud?
I also noticed while there that S&W revised their 1911 to have a much more discreet logo. Looks much better.

No, that is real weight. I shot it again today, but off of sandbags with the target at 25 yards. I only shot 25 rounds because of the whinning about the noise. I pulled two rounds, and have no idea how I did that.
Shooting off the bags, I could feel just a tad of recoil. You really have to pay attention in order to notice it. Mostly you notice the noise - coming from the people on either side of you.
I need to take the Bushmaster 97s to shut them up. After it, they won't complain about a 44 Magnum again.
No one noticed the billboard on the side of the barrel. ;D

Everytime I see the "Raging Bull' on the barrel I get a vision of Robert Deniro in the role of Jake Lamata.
