If you could subscribe to and read only one gun mag, what would it be?

So far for me it's American Handgunner. I've just enjoyed that mag more than any other so far.

American Handgunner is a very good magazine; A matter of fact, I have had one of my favorite issues beside me at my computer screen for the past week. One of my favorite features is The Ayoob Files, with details of the Miami Shoot Out, and the Lance Thomas shoot outs being my favories. John Taffin is also a well established authority on revolvers, and Ed Brown's Pistolsmithing has some good things on the 1911.

Ayoob is the man. I always read his stuff first, he's just a good writer and a good cop from the sounds of things. AH just seems to have it all for me as far as handguns go.
I'm not sure American Handgunner could be my one stop shop though because sometime I want a little rifle info you know.

TBT; Shooting Times covers a various span of firearms, and Layne Simpson is one writer who applies hands on experience to back up what he illustrates so well.

Since I'm mostly a handgun man, make my gun magazine Combat Handguns.

Since I'm mostly a handgun man, make my gun magazine Combat Handguns. Combat Handguns is a good mag as well. Their buyers guide this year was nice in their annual issue.

Shotgun News
I may just relent and buy a 1911 so I can get all the goodies for it.

With alot of the 1911s, most already have the goodies packaged on the pistol. Colts are more appealing to alter & modify because of their plain wrappers, and most all the aftermarket parts are manufactured for the dimentions of the Colt, making fitting easier. The Colts are one of those pistols which allows the user to personnalize.

One magazine that came out only once a year was called Custom Combat Handguns, which featured a showcased 1911 on the cover. I have not been able to find these in the past few years.

Mountaineer; You must be talking about the Leckie Custom Colt Lightweight Commander, with the Caspian Damascus slide. These slides for the Govt., Commander, or Officer's was priced at $500., at the date of that issue. Custom Combat Handguns always seemed to have a Custom 1911 on the cover with the muzzle pointed to the right hand corner. Jack Weigand has told several stories of what it took to build up a gun for an article, and if one is in contact with these smiths on a regular basis, those exact guns, that appeared in the magazine article, can be purchased.
