For all you glock owners...
I have a glock 27 (.40) for my carry piece and I think it does its job well. One of the things I like about it is that it takes my old mags from my glock 22 and so at the range I can shoot 15 rounds instead of 9.
Does anyone know if the glock 26 (9mm) takes the Glock 17 mags like the g27 takes the g22 mags?

Drake; Don't know but it would be best for you to try this with the pistol and the magazine before investing on someone else's word. I have read where some say the Sig P-229 and P-226 in .40 share the same magazines. I found this to be untrue, after comparing the two, with my own pistols and magazines.

I think I will have to go down to ImpactGuns and see if they will let me fiddle around.

I'm not sure. You could check glocktalk.com, I'm sure the answer fan be found there. I know the G19 takes G17 mags as well as the 33 rounders. Not sure about the 26 though.

Went to the new Cabela's in town and sure enough the mag for the 17 fits the 26 like a glove. I think being able to carry a back up mag with 15 rounds is a great advantage and puts another check in the "Why I carry a glock" column.

26? I assume you meant 27.
I almost bought a Glock 27 about 6 years ago when I was taking my CHL class. Lot of firepower in a small package. I was new to pistols at the time and decided instead to get a DA/SA with a manual safety. I eventually got over the manual safety hangup.
But still, I'm a bit leery of Glocks. I know some of them have light triggers and probably should have the trigger guard covered by a holster at all times. Not the kind of pistol you just toss in the glovebox or under the seat.
As far as having a "backup" with 15 rounds, I'm not planning any trips to Baghdad in the near future, and even Houston isn't THAT bad!
I'm sure you've heard the old saying, "If you need that many rounds, you shouldn't be there in the first place." ;D
But, then again, if you are a cop it may be necessary.

A&G makes an adapter that fills the extension of the G17 magazine for use in the G26.

I have one of these adapters for my G30 (G21 mags). It is very comfortable. I like the idea and you can't beat A&G's low price.

The G26 will take G17 (G17L/G34), G18, and G19 mags.

I think my earlier post confused people. I have sold my glock 27 in .40 cal and bought a glock 26 in 9mm. When I shot a friends 26, I was surprised by the grouping I got and realized that for me the difference in the power of the caliber made a difference in my grouping - especially for double taps.
The glock 26 in 9mm comes with 2 10 round magazines and also will take the full size magazine for the Glock 17 in 9mm which holds 17 rounds.
I have found when doing a reload with the glock 26 that it is nice to have a full size mag on your hip cause it is more to grab and easier to get into the mag well. Trying to pull the smaller mag out of the mag holder slowed me down.

I did compete in steel shoots when I lived in northern idaho, but don't do it anymore. Nowadays, I work with a small police force (I am the prosecutor) and they are nice enough to let me train with them once in a while.
